Community Investment Referendum

April 28th, 2026

The Borough of Naugatuck will hold a referendum vote regarding a proposed $25,000,000 appropriation for various capital improvement projects throughout the community.

Referendum Question

Shall the Borough of Naugatuck appropriate $25,000,000 for various capital projects, including the paving, repair and improvements of various borough roads, the installation of a public safety dispatch center radio tower and the purchase of radios, land acquisition, and improvements and renovations to borough schools, parks, the senior center, bridges, fields and stormwater infrastructure and authorize the issuance of bonds or notes of the borough in an amount not to exceed $25,000,000 to finance the appropriation, or so much as may be necessary after deducting grants to be received for the projects?

What This Means

If approved, this funding will support a wide range of infrastructure and community improvements, including:

  • Road paving, repairs, and transportation improvements

  • Public safety communication upgrades, including a radio tower and equipment

  • Land acquisition for future community needs

  • Renovations and improvements to schools

  • Enhancements to parks, recreational fields, and the senior center

  • Bridge repairs and maintenance

  • Stormwater infrastructure improvements

The proposal also includes funding for the design and site work required for a new animal control facility, representing an important first step toward improving conditions for animals, enhancing safety for animal control staff, and supporting public safety.

By addressing these needs now, the borough may help prevent more extensive and costly repairs in the future across multiple areas of infrastructure.
